The Last Analogue Generation: What Africa Must Build Before AI Builds Us - Registration Link: https://tinyurl.com/MivaDiscourseReg

About the Session
Africa is currently experiencing its second major technological leap within a single generation.
The first transition—from analogue to digital—enabled transformative innovations such as mobile money, digital banking, and connected commerce. The second shift—from digital to artificial intelligence—is unfolding at a much faster pace, with significantly higher stakes, on infrastructure largely not designed by us.
Drawing from nearly two decades of experience building digital infrastructure across telecommunications, banking, energy, and education, this discourse explores a critical question:
Will Africa shape the AI era or be shaped by it?
The session argues that Africa has a narrow window, approximately five to seven years, to build the essential foundations required to participate meaningfully in the AI-driven future.
It positions this generation as “the last analogue generation”—the final cohort with lived experience of building foundational systems and the first with the responsibility to ensure Africa’s active role in shaping what comes next.
