As more graduates enter the workforce, employers are becoming increasingly careful about verifying academic qualifications. This is important not only for ensuring that candidates possess the credentials they claim but also for protecting organisations from certificate fraud.
At Miva Open University, maintaining the integrity of our qualifications is a priority. To make verification simple, secure, and transparent, every degree issued by the university comes with built-in verification features that allow employers and other stakeholders to confirm its authenticity within minutes.

Why Degree Verification Matters
Forged certificates remain a challenge in many parts of the world. As universities build strong reputations, fraudsters may attempt to take advantage of that credibility by producing fake documents.
Miva’s certificate verification system helps employers confidently confirm whether a degree was genuinely issued by the university, ensuring that legitimate graduates receive the recognition they deserve.
Every Certificate Has a Unique Identity
All Miva graduates receive both a physical certificate and a digital copy of their degree certificate.
Each certificate contains:
- A unique Certificate ID
- A unique QR Code
These identifiers are assigned to a specific graduate and serve as the official means of verification.
How to Verify a Miva Degree
Verifying a Miva degree is straightforward.
Option 1: Verify Using the Certificate ID
- Visit the Miva certificate verification portal.
- Enter the Certificate ID displayed on the certificate.
- Enter your email address.
- Submit the verification request
Option 2: Verify Using the QR Code
- Open your smartphone camera or QR code scanner.
- Scan the QR code printed on the certificate.
- You will be directed to the verification page containing the certificate record.
What Information Will Be Displayed?
Once a certificate is verified, the system will display its status and relevant academic details.
Possible certificate statuses include:
Valid
This means the certificate was officially issued by Miva Open University and remains in good standing.
Retracted
This means the certificate was originally issued but has since been withdrawn by the university and is no longer considered valid.
No Record Available
This means the system cannot find a matching certificate record. Employers should treat such certificates with caution and contact the university for further clarification if necessary.
In addition to the certificate status, the verification page will confirm:
- Graduate’s name
- Degree awarded
- Class of degree
- Date of issue
Building Trust Through Transparency
A university qualification should be easy to verify and difficult to forge. By providing secure digital verification for every certificate issued, Miva Open University helps employers, professional bodies, and other institutions confirm academic credentials quickly and confidently.
For graduates, it offers an additional layer of credibility. For employers, it provides assurance that the qualification presented is genuine and officially recognised by the university.
As Miva continues to expand access to quality higher education, we remain committed to maintaining the highest standards of trust, transparency, and academic integrity.
